Cosmopolitan Magazine Celebrates 15 Fab, Fun and Fearless Years In A Big, Bold Bash!

Cosmopolitan 15th Anniversary

Cosmopolitan, the No. 1 selling women’s magazine in the Philippines and in the world, marked 15 years of empowering thousands of Filipinas with fab, fearless fanfare in a big, bold bash held at the NBC Tent on May 17.

Dubbed “The Sexiest Party of the Year,” the country’s hottest celebrities, models, fashion designers, stylists, photographers, and other glamorous personalities and industry hotshots figuring in the world of Cosmo partied in tropical splendor with a Malibu beach theme, with the spotlight on living the “Fun, Fearless Female” Cosmo lifestyle.

Standout performances from fresh young singers, Cosmo Hunk Marky Stroem and 2012 Cosmo Fun Fearless Female awardee Zia Quizon opened the show. Host Joey Mead, herself a Cosmo Girl (she was the first Filipina to wear a bikini on the cover in 2000), introduced a retrospective of 181 Cosmo covers from Cosmo’s first May 1997 issue to the present May 2012 one. Former Cosmo cover girls include Donita Rose, Giselle Tongi, Assunta de Rossi, Alessandra de Rossi, Judy Ann Santos, Marian Rivera, Angel Aquino, KC Concepcion, Heart Evangelista, Toni Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, Lovi Poe, Sarah Geronimo, Bea Alonzo, Georgina Wilson, Solenn Heusaff and May 2012 six-time cover girl Anne Curtis.

 

Returning Cosmopolitan editor-in-chief Myrza Sison, who launched the Philippine edition in 1997 (and was editor until 2005), said, “Others try to imitate—but no one can really duplicate—the Cosmo brand and special place in the Filipina’s life. Tonight, we salute the Cosmo way of life and how it has enriched the life of the Filipina, emboldening her to live big and go after her dreams.” She added, “Cosmo is happy to have played such a significant role not just in thousands of young Filipina women’s lives but also in our women’s history, and we look forward to many more years of empowering many more thousands of Cosmo Girls all over the country.”

Cosmo also honored its top Cosmo Centerfolds of all time, bringing to life its May 2012 issue feature “15 Hottest Hunks Ever,” featuring Derek Ramsey, Marc Nelson, Jon Hall, Enchong Dee, Fabio Ide, Hideo Muraoka, Aly Borromeo, Jay-R, Brent Javier, Jake Cuenca, Jon Avila, Aljur Abrenica, Will Devaughn, Rafael Rosell and Paolo Avelino.

Also honored were Cosmo’s 2012 Fun, Fearless Females, outstanding young Filipinas rocking their respective fields: artist Dina Gadia, environmentalist Bea Misa, entrepreneur Tamylyn Manaloto, runner Monica Torres, human rights journalist Pat Evangelista, advertising executive Corey Cruz, radio personality Jessica Mendoza, fashion blogger Laureen Uy, rising actress Jasmine Curtis Smith, singer Zia Quizon, jewelry designer Nicole Whisenhunt, poet Mookie Katigbak, vegan chef Marie Gonzalez, youth leader Mildred Ople, and superstar Anne Curtis.
