Movie Review: The Avengers

One of the most anticipated movie to watch this year is The Marvel’s The Avengers. Since its announcement in “Thor” and “Captain America” films, everyone is looking forward to know more about the biggest assemble of superheroes in one movie.

I followed every development from this new Marvel movie release, from the cast playing the role, new trailers and its actual play date. Although I didn’t get to see it on its first screening schedule last April 25, I did managed to watch the exclusive screening of The Avengers last night courtesy of Jollibee. I am supposed to watch it tonight (April 26) but my schedule doesn’t permit me to do so. But after watching it at Greenhills Theater Mall, I decided I will watch it again… this time in 3D!

Honestly speaking, although I’ve seen all of the solo movies of Captain America, Thor, Hulk and Iron Man, I don’t consider myself a huge fan of this superheroes. So many factor interests me with The Avengers movie because aside from getting to see a star-studded line-up, it’s also interesting to see all of them together in one movie. And the fact that my new favorite actor Jeremy Renner is also part of the movie, makes it more interesting.

His role as Hawk Eye wasn’t a familiar character for me though. Maybe because, among all the Avengers, he is the only one who doesn’t have a solo movie or at least a cameo like what Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) did at Iron Man, and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) did at Captain America and Thor. I also like Mark Ruffalo as a romantic-comedy actor and I felt he doesn’t fit as The Hulk. And I was wrong. It turns out, he is actually one of the most interesting character ever included in that movie!

Undeniably, The Avengers is one of the best superhero movie I’ve seen so far. And The Hulk turns out to be the best character included for the movie. He is such a scene-stealer! I’d love to share what makes me laugh out loud but I’m pretty sure, when you watched it, you will agree with me. The Hulk is now my favorite Avenger aside from Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) who is equally hilarious in that movie!

But of course, Tony Stark / Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) still gives the best lines, and all of the character were given equal highlights in terms of the fight scenes. Scarlett Johansson plays well as The Black Widow. She is such a kick-ass girl! Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Chris Evans (Captain America) also contributed with their fine acting and excellent fighting skills. I actually did enjoyed every scenes from this film. No dull moment. It’s either you’ll laugh or get amazed with the action part.

This highly-anticipated gathering of Marvel’s epic superheros combined with the brilliant vision of director Josh Whedon surely wowed me and all of the audience who watched it last night. I don’t want to be a spoiler but there is so many good scenes in this film and so many funny moments as well. At first, I was worried it wont live up with its hype of being the most anticipated movie but it was indeed worth the wait.

I have just seen the movie. It is its first day of release here and I made sure to see it. It deserves all the hype it is getting. Everything about it was phenomenal: screenplay, cinematography, casting, visuals and effects, etc. I made a review about it here http://mrfilmreviewer.blogspot.com/2012/04/avengers.html if you are interested in reading it. Hopefully, you’ll like it as well.
